Meet the Author

Jim Travisano is a writer, photographer, and lifelong traveler who once rode a bicycle across Europe.  The Long and Winding Road is the journal of that adventure.

His work has appeared in The New York Times, The Washington Post, and publications of The League of American Wheelmen, and Adventure Cyclist,  among others.

Travisano lives in Charlottesville, VA, with his wife and their cat.  His old Trek 720 touring bike still waits by the door.

Jim Travisano is a writer and lifelong traveler. In 1984, he undertook a 4,000-mile solo cycling journey across Europe, an experience that became the foundation for The Long and Winding Road. His writing has appeared in Adventure Cyclist, Cyclist Magazine, BikeReport, and other publications, where he reflects on the transformative power of travel, the value of getting off the beaten path, and the stories we gather along the way. He lives in Charlottesville, Virginia.

Jim Travisano is a storyteller at heart. With a background in psychology and a passion for human stories, Jim’s writing is intimate, lyrical, and deeply reflective. “The Long and Winding Road” is his debut novel, inspired by personal experiences and a lifelong fascination with memory and resilience.
